Grants and Scholarships for Pre-licensure BSN and RN-BSN Programs

If you’re looking for some help with alleviating the financial burden of earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, you’re in luck. The growing demand for BSN-educated RNs has increased the number of scholarship programs and initiatives available to both pre-licensure BSN students and practicing registered nurses returning to school to complete RN-BSN programs. In fact, there have never been more opportunities to get your hands on some free money to put towards your education.

Among the best-recognized national organizations that offer scholarships to nurses and nursing students looking to earn a BSN are:

  • S. Department of Health and Human Services: NURSE Corps
  • American Association of Colleges of Nursing
  • Sigma Theta Tau: The National Honor Society for Nursing
  • After College/AACN Scholarship Fund
  • S. Military Nursing Financial Aid
  • National Association of Hispanic Nurses
  • National Black Nurses Association

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as scholarships are also available at the state level and through specific nursing schools. Since state-level scholarships are typically a lot less competitive, they often provide easier access to everything from a full ride to a little extra cash to put towards your education.

With so many scholarship programs available, the real challenge is often finding the ones you’re eligible for. As a way to advocate for nurses and nursing students that make the commitment to earn a BSN, we have worked to make the process a little easier by selecting some of the best scholarship opportunities available in each state:
